As a volunteer board member of Hoakalei Cultural Foundation, I worked with Native Hawaiian leaders Auntie Arline Eaton and Auntie Mary Serrao to ensure pono stewardship of the land and the heritage of the Ewa plain.
Following in the steps of my Uncle, David "koko" Mahukona, I officiated basketball for 25 years with the State Association of Hawaii Basketball Officials (SAHBO) including youth and adult recreation leagues, the ILH high school leagues, and Special Olympics.
After rescuing animals for 30 years, I founded Poi Dogs and Popoki to Provide affordable spay, neuter and wellness services to families struggling to care for their pets as well as support the compassionate people caring for stray and abandoned anils.
In 2012, I was appointed by Gov. Neil Abercrombie to serve on the board of the Hawaii Community Development Authority for Kalaeloa to ensure a community voice for the redevelopment of Barbers Point.
